Data Analysis of the University’s DAT App

As part of a consulting project, data visualization and data analysis were developed for university surveys. The main task was to analyze survey data and visualize it clearly in PowerBI in order to create meaningful reports. In addition, a training course was held for one employee so that he could learn how to use PowerBI and analyze the data independently.
Data basis #
The data basis for this project was provided by a survey app developed by the university. The app continuously collected responses from a large number of participants on various topics. The results of these surveys then had to be structured and prepared for further analysis in PowerBI.
Procedure for analyzing the survey data #
1st Data preparation: First, the database of the survey was analyzed and cleaned. The raw data exported from the survey app had to be transformed and converted into a format-compliant model for PowerBI.
2 Creation of PowerBI visualizations: Visualizations were created that presented the results of the surveys clearly and concisely.
3 Reports and dashboards: Several dashboards were developed for the responsible employees that included interactive reports. These dashboards allowed users to browse and filter the data at different levels to gain deeper insights into the survey results.
Training of an employee #
In addition to the technical implementation of the visualizations, training of the employee was also carried out. The aim was to impart the necessary knowledge to be able to work independently with PowerBI. The following topics were covered during the collaboration:
- Basics of data visualization: How can data be presented in such a way that it can be interpreted easily and comprehensibly?
- Creation of visualizations in PowerBI**: Employees learned how to create their own visualizations and customize existing reports.
- Interactive reports: Demonstrated how to use filters and interactive elements in PowerBI reports to provide dynamic insights into the data.
Result #
The visualizations and reports in PowerBI enabled the university staff to better understand the survey results and make informed decisions based on this data. The training enabled the team to continue the analyses independently and to integrate new survey results into existing dashboards.
The project was a successful contribution to the data literacy of the organization and to the improvement of data analysis processes using PowerBI.
